The following portions may contain heavy spoilers

It is the year 1951 and the United Kingdom is reeling under a heavy invasion from the Chimera. The United States sends in 5,000 U.S. Army Rangers to assist the British forces fight off the Chimera. This force is also tasked with the retrieval of a secret weapon that the British say can help defeat the Chimera. Upon landing in the British city of York, you take control of Sgt. Nathan Hale of the U.S. Army. After proceeding further into the city, a spire attack hits York releasing the deadly Chimeran virus. Hale is the only one to survive the attack.

Hale awakens in a Chimeran Conversion Center in Grimsby a very different person. The Chimeran virus infected his body but did not fully turn him. The virus transformed his body giving Nathan some Chimeran traits like increased metabolism, increased strength and health regeneration. Nathan, while escaping the Conversion Center, rescues Captain Rachel Parker who is an English officer. Hale and Parker escape and help the British forces transport their secret weapon to a nearby army base. Upon arriving, the base is attacked by waves of Chimera. After further investigation, Hale finds out that the secret weapon is a Chimeran "Angel". The Angel uses telepathy to control the Chimera and may have ordered the attack on the Army base. The Angel tries to control Hale using telepathy but Hale fights him off and kills the Angel.

Hale and the remaining forces fight desperately against the advancing Chimera. Hale, assisted by Lieutenant Stephen Cartwright lead the forces through England trying to take back lost ground. Hale and Cartwright eventually stumble upon a series of Chimeran underground tubes and power conduits. These conduits all connect the many Chimeran towers all throughout England. After going deeper into the conduits, Hale discovers that the series of conduits all converge to the tower in London. Hale decides to lead an attack on the Chimeran tower in London hoping that by destroying this tower, the Chimera will be defeated in England.

The remaining British and American forces all converge to London. They fight a long and grueling battle as Nathan tries to slip past the Chimeran defenses and sneak into the Chimeran Tower. The Allied forces are fighting an uphill battle as swarms of Chimera continuously come out from the tower. Just when hope was almost lost, Nathan reaches the top of the tower and destroys its central energy source which causes the entire tower to explode.

With the tower destroyed and the Angel dead, the remaining Chimera retreat the English isle back to Europe. Nathan Hale has not turned up after the victory and the American's list him as Killed in Action. Parker however has a feeling that he is not dead. The game ends showing Nathan walk through a forest in a blizzard as a VTOL arrives. Several Black-Op soldiers get out of the VTOL and try to take Hale. Hale contemplates killing them all with a grenade but decides against it and goes with the Black-Ops into the VTOL.
